Storied Archive keeps your family's stories in the voice of the person who told them.
Each day the app asks one gentle question, something like "What was your first home like?" or "How did you and Mom meet?" The person answers out loud, in their own words, for as long as they like. The app saves the recording, writes down what was said, and keeps both. Over time those answers add up to a life story your family can listen to, search by a name or a memory, and keep for good.
Most families mean to write these things down and never quite do. What gets lost is usually not the photographs. It is the voice, and the way a person tells a story, and the hundred small details nobody thinks to write down. That is what this is for.
Below are the questions we hear most. If yours is not here, email support@storiedarchive.com and a person will answer.
Getting started
How do I sign in?
There is no password to remember. Enter your email address and we send you a one-time code to type in. That is your whole sign-in.
How do I add family?
The person who starts a family can invite others by sharing an invite code or a link, or by letting them scan a QR code. Each family member has a role: an owner who manages the family, storytellers who record, and viewers who listen.
Recording
How does recording work?
Each day the app offers one gentle question. Tap Record, answer out loud the way you would at the kitchen table, and save. There is no wrong answer and no time limit, and you can answer a different question if one does not suit you.
What happens to a recording after I save it?
It is saved to your family's archive, transcribed into text so it can be read and searched, and kept for the people who come after. Saving a story uploads its audio so the family can play it back. See our Privacy Policy for the details.
Who can hear my stories?
You decide, story by story. When you save a story you choose its audience: everyone in the family, a particular family, only certain people, or no one yet. You can also seal a story to open on a future date. If you are 18 or older, you can also offer a story to the Community, where other people who use Storied Archive can hear it. Nothing leaves your family unless you offer it, and you can take it back out at any time.
Finding and hearing stories
Can I search the archive?
Yes. You can search by a name, a place, or a memory, and the app finds the moments that match, even across many different stories, and takes you to where they were said.
What is the biography?
As answers accumulate, the app helps assemble them into a living biography of the storyteller, drawn from what they recorded and citing the recordings each part came from.
Privacy and your data
Is our data private?
Your stories stay within your family, on the terms each storyteller sets, unless a storyteller chooses to offer one to the Community. We do not sell your information. The Privacy Policy explains how your data is handled in full.
How do I delete my data?
In the app, open Settings and tap "Delete all my data," or choose "Leave the family" to step away while leaving your gifted stories in the archive. If you do not have the app, see the account deletion page.
What happens to my stories if I pass away?
That is the heart of why Storied Archive exists. Stories you shared stay in your family's archive, attributed to you, so your voice remains for the people who love you. You can also seal certain stories to open later, and designate what happens to your archive.
Reporting a problem
How do I report content or block someone?
Any visible content can be reported from within the app, and a member can be blocked so you no longer see their content. Reports go to us for review. You can also email support@storiedarchive.com.
